Maybe you’ve heard about the Math Olympiad–a competition where six students from each participating country compete for the international math world title! The US just won it’s second consecutive championship; Po-Shen Lo, the team’s head coach is giving a talk on Math and Creativity at Whitney Young Saturday!
If you are interested in getting a chance to try out Olympiad questions on a regular basis, join UICMOP (Math Olympiad Project / Math Outreach Program). Alexander Furman, a professor of mathematics at UIC, runs the show and he promises both fun and challenge. Get practice doing Olympiad level questions and learn high level problem solving strategies along the way.
There will be six sessions this fall. Come to UIC every other Friday starting on September 23rd (other dates are October 7th and 21st, November 4th and 18th, and December 2nd). Sessions run from 4:45-7:00PM, and meet on the 4th floor of the SEO Building on UIC’s campus.
