A new state wide, 24 hour campaign for supporting non-profits launches on May 30th at 6PM. Math Circles of Chicago will participate in the new #ILGiveCommunity event in the hopes of supporting new programming to reach more kids this summer and in the fall!
I’m also excited to announce an MC2 board member will match the first $5,000 raised. We are hoping to raise a total of $8,300 in the event, $5,000 for the match, plus an additional $3,300 to fund a math camp for Pilsen middle schoolers. Through the generosity of the CME Group we have funded a camp for Pilsen high school kids; our partners at Mujeres Latinas en Accion are hoping we can raise a bit more to pay for a teacher and an assistant for a group of deserving middle schoolers they’ve identified.
Check out the fundraising website we’ve created for the event–we have several math circle parents who have signed up to create their own pages to share with their friends on May 30th. If you are willing to create a personal page too, please email me at info@mathcirclesofchicago.org. Otherwise, we are hoping our community will share the url for the fundraiser’s main page on social media on May 30th–save the date!
