The pre-registration deadline for QED, Chicago’s Youth Math Symposium, is on November 12th. Kids in grades 5-12 are eligible to participate. Join us for a wonderful day including:
- Dr. Eugenia Cheng, author of “How to Bake Pi”, will be giving our keynote address (which will, she has informed us, involve her playing a piano.) Watch a video of Dr. Cheng with Stephen Colbert!
- The “Guesstimathon” will be back! Fabulous and likely silly prizes will be given out, often for merit! Quantities to guess from last year’s google-prohibited Guesstimathon included: (1) The cost per US person per year of the Mars Curiousity Rover mission. (2) The number of waffles served across all Waffle House locations since 1955. (3) The number of baby girls given the 10th most popular name of 2014.
- A room with a ridiculous number of zome tools for building bizarre mathematical structures.
- Dozens of rich math projects from all over!
